Founded in the mid 1980s, the Grand Central Partnership (GCP) manages one of the largest business improvement districts in the world, comprising 76 million square feet of commercial space in a 70-block area with irregular borders stretching from 35th Street to 54th Street and from Second Avenue to Fifth Avenue. With the Beaux Arts masterpiece Grand Central Terminal as our geographic anchor, the neighborhood offers the very best of New York City – it is a bustling center of commercial activity by day, and a destination for fun and culture by night.
GCP helps to ensure that our Midtown Manhattan neighborhood looks its best and functions as one of NYC’s most exciting areas. In addition to pioneering the “Clean & Safe” approach to urban revitalization thanks to our Public Safety and Sanitation divisions, the organization has led the way in introducing supplementary services and programs that contribute to our neighborhood’s overall appeal, including an award-winning Capital Improvements & Maintenance division; a comprehensive Tourism & Visitor Services division; and an External Affairs division that produces special events and provides retail and business support services.
A not-for-profit corporation, GCP is funded principally through special assessments collected from commercial property owners located within its defined geographic area.
